I am excited and honored to serve as the principal at Haw Creek Elementary School. I have worked for Buncombe County Schools for over 18 years. I started my career teaching 1st grade at Oakley Elementary School after graduating from UNCA. I continued my studies receiving my masters in K-6 Education and Administrative Leadership from Western Carolina and I also pursued National Board Certification.

Over the course of my career, I have worked in a variety of schools teaching 1st, 2nd, and 5th grades and serving as an instructional coach and the Lead Literacy Coach for grades K-6 in Buncombe County Schools. Most recently I was the assistant principal at Fairview Elementary School.

I have been married for over 17 years to my high school sweetheart and we have two boys that attend Reynolds High and Cane Creek Middle School. Our boys keep us busy with sports, trips, and church activities. I am very excited to serve the students and staff at Haw Creek. I know this will be a fun, fast-paced year as we soar to new heights.

Assistant Principal - Jeremy Aten

I am so excited to join the Reynolds District as the Assistant Principal at Haw Creek Elementary. I am looking forward to getting to know the people of this great community and to serve you and your children. I am grateful to be a part of your children’s educational experience.

Before coming to the Reynolds District, I was a Title 1 Reading Specialist at North Windy Ridge Intermediate and Weaverville Elementary. I have been a part of Buncombe County Schools since 2011. I started my teaching career in 1997 as a classroom teacher in Alexander County.

I am a graduate of Mansfield University with a degree and licensure in Elementary Education. I then received my Masters in Reading Education from Appalachian State University. In 2005, I obtained my National Board for Professional Teaching Standards specializing as a Middle Childhood Generalist. Finally, I went back to school to get my School Administration licensure from Western Carolina University.

I consider myself a learner, a servant, and an inspired leader. I look forward to becoming a part of the Reynolds district family and inspiring our students to become leaders of their interests and passions.
