Physical Education
Haw Creek's Physical Education Program is oriented to enhance each students' physical fitness and skills, create a positive self-image, and experience the joy of feeling healthy.
The National Standards and the NC Healthful Living Standards provide the framework for the physical education curriculum at Haw Creek. Fitness activities for all grade levels include the Presidential Fitness Test, fitness circuits, and fun fitness games. Basic skills are taught in kindergarten through second grade and include activities that develop locomotor movements and promote total body wellness. Grades 3-5 focus on working cooperatively as a team using sportsmanship and fair play. Fundamental skills for team sports are taught and used in mini-units. Total body wellness is emphasized throughout the school year.
