Ferguson, Victoria (AIG)

Victoria Ferguson, Gifted Specialist at Haw Creek

I began teaching in Buncombe County schools in 2006. After teaching in the regular classroom for seven years here at Haw Creek, I became an AIG specialist in 2013.  All but one of my years of teaching have been spent at Haw Creek. It is wonderful to have the opportunity to work with gifted students here at the school I love.
I graduated from UNC-Asheville with a Bachelors degree in Environmental Biology/Ecology and a K-6 teaching license. After teaching for several years, I earned my Masters degree and K-12 teaching certification in Gifted Education through Western Carolina University. Before teaching in schools, I worked with children of all ages, taught horseback riding lessons, worked as a director of a summer horse camp, and served as an environmental educator for the U.S. Forest Service.
I have a passion for working with gifted students and helping them navigate through school and life with their unique talents, perspectives, and issues. I am excited about the ideas we will share, new discoveries we will make, and all we will accomplish this year!
I am usually at Haw Creek on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.  Please feel free to contact me at school by phone or email.
